Pearson VUE develops and administers the licensing exam on behalf of the Wyoming Real Estate Commission. If you've come across older guides that mention PSI, they're out of date. First-time applicants take two portions:
The national portion has 80 scored questions (plus 5 pretest questions that don't count toward your final score). You get 2.5 hours to complete this portion of the exam.
The Wyoming state portion has 40 scored questions (plus 5–10 pretest questions that don’t count toward your final score). You get 1.5 hours to complete this portion of the exam.
Both are scored on a 0 to 100 scale, and you need a 75 on each. You'll walk out of the test center with your official score report in hand, so there's no waiting around to find out how you did. If none of those are convenient, or you'd rather just take the exam remotely, you can test from home through OnVUE. All you need is a quiet, private room, a reliable device with a webcam, and a solid internet connection. Fees are $80 per portion at a test center and $90 per portion online. Reservations have to be made at least 24 hours ahead, and there are no walk-ins. If weather makes a test center unsafe or unreachable, Pearson will contact you and get you rescheduled. Pass one portion and fail the other, and you only have to retake the one you missed. There is a catch, though. You have six months from the date you passed the first portion to pass the second one. Miss that window and you're retaking both.
Where and how to take the exam: Wyoming has one dedicated Pearson Professional Test Center in Casper that’s open two or three days a week. But Pearson also tests at community colleges and education centers in Cheyenne, Laramie, Gillette, Sheridan, Riverton, Torrington, Evanston, Rawlins, and Mountain View. Check current availability when you schedule, since locations and days do change.
